18 May Your Guide to TEDxPittsburgh 2016
Our 2016 conference, Activate: Ideas in Motion, is just a few days away! Here we’re sharing all the details of this year’s event and how YOU can get involved.
Activate: Ideas in Motion will be held on May 22nd, 2016.
Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum
4141 Fifth Avenue
Pittsburgh, PA 15213
Transportation and Accessibility:
Parking is available on the street or in the Soldiers & Sailors parking garage located underneath the venue for a small fee. Alternate transportation is encouraged. Bus service is available throughout Oakland, plan your trip here. Bike parking is available across the street at William Pitt Union, and Healthy Ride Station is at Bigelow Blvd & Fifth Ave. Information on venue accessibility may be found here. In addition, there will be ASL interpreters at the conference.
Doors open at 11 AM and the first speaker session will begin promptly at 11:30 AM. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes ahead of time to grab a seat and check out some of the giveaways and information that will be available.
The conference will conclude around 5 PM with an Activation Hour reception immediately afterwards until about 6 PM.
There will be 3 sessions of TEDxPGH talks, broken up by a lunch break and coffee break. See the full schedule here. Lunch and coffee/tea are included in your ticket price.
The Activation Hour is also included as part of your ticket. It will begin immediately following the conclusion of the talks, and it’s a great opportunity for you to meet the speakers, mingle with fellow attendees, and hear music curated by Steve Hackman. Light appetizers will be served and a cash bar will be available.
We encourage you to tweet and post to Instagram with #TEDxPGH before, during, and after the event to share your thoughts about the speakers’ talks and what you’ve learned throughout the day.
Not able to join us this year? No problem. We’ll be offering a livestream of our event. Download the app or visit our website on the day of the event to access the livestream.
Our mission is to help spread inspiring ideas of innovation coming from leaders in our own Pittsburgh community. Attending our event means that you’re taking the first step in joining us. You can activate the curiosity in others by encouraging them to attend with you or by striking up conversation with a stranger during one of the breaks. Participate on social media to spread the word to those who aren’t able to attend. And share your own thoughts and ideas with other attendees during the breaks and Activation Hour. Be a part of the ripple effect.
We look forward to seeing you at TEDxPittsburgh on May 22nd!
